Cinco fotos - Five photos

I have had flu this weekend (the first this fall/winter), so I have had to take the photos inside the house again. By the moment, lighting continues being a mistery for me and I try to avoid using external devices (umbrellas, difussers, external flash, ...). Fortunately, this weekend my teacher-assitant has been patiently there with me and I have learnt some things. One of the is that I love the golden reflector.
I can't use the 15-52 lens to take photos close up because the camera doesn't focus. Too close. It seems that I need "extension tubes" (I don't really know if this word does exist). Desperate situations call for desperate measures, so I have tried the 45-150 lens for the first time.

DIY Mariposas marcasitios - DIY Butterfly place cards

Although our wedding photographer hasn't given us the photos yet, I have decided to tell you something else about our wedding. As I told here, we prepared some details to make our wedding special for us and for our guests too. One of this details were the butterfly place cards that we made. They looked very nice in the champagneglasses and everybody appreciated that they were handmade.

{Copas de  los invitados - Guests' glasses}

{Mesa de la boda - Wedding table}

Surfing on the Internet, I found the web Placeless Paper and I felt in love with their place cards. Everybody like to feel important, and our gests were very important for us. We loved the idea of everybody finding their names in their table in the restaurant and the following photo was my inspiration:

{Fuente de inspiración - Inspiration}

The first task was drawing and cutting out the butterfly template. Then, you only have to fold the card, draw the butterfly on one side and cut the butterfly out (the same as we did in the school!!!).

Using a golden marker we paint dots around the silhouette. I was so patient that I spent hours in the window copying one side dots on the other side but it is not necessary.

Now that we have made our butterfly, we only have to write our guest's name and put it on the glass, like this (this is a try we did at home):

This is the template I designed to make our place cards, in case somebody want it. If you can't see it propperly or if you find any doubt/problem downloading it, send me an email and I will help you.

As I told you here, I will upload my Princesses' photos little by little. With today's post, arrives the "Sara de Gucci". I hope you like her!!! This design is inspired by the famous Gucci skirt+blouse that Sara Carbonero wore last summer. The skirt is made of orange felt and white tulle. I used Swarovsky glass for the waist, which combine perfectly with the metallic gold handbag. The headdress is made of white goose feathers, violet felt and an orange flower.

Princesas - Princesses

Poco a poco iré colgando fotos.

Although my to-do-list grows veeeery quicly (almost as quicky as the stack ironing to do) I have finally found the time and the necessary light to take some veeeeery special photos. They are my princesses' photos, my little wired-heart-dolls with felt and tulle dresses.
I have always loved making handcrafits, specially those related to sewing. I learnt how to make wired dolls some time ago but I had forgotten them until I discovered the blog Macarena Gea atelier. When I saw her lovely bride and groom I inmediately started to make our own cake toppers. I needed to make four different versions until finding the final one, because I wanted our-own cake topper and not just a copy of someone else cake topper. The effort was worth it!!!
Soon I decided that the girls deserved to have their own doll too. It was easy to find out what were they going to wear the wedding day. Very patiently, I made a doll for each one of the girls dressed in the same colours as they were going to be dressed the wedding day.  Princesses for princesses, as I said to them. They were thrilled!!!! (I'm sorry but sometimes it's a bit difficult for me to explain my ideas in English).
After the wedding I have continued making princesses for me, for friends (as presents), for my friends' friends, for friends' friends' friends .......... so I accept orders!!!
Little by little, I will show you my princesses photos. By the moment, you can see the group photo and my  princess Lau. One princess like this lives in Madrid with Laura!!!!

As I told yesterday, it has been a very bussy weekend. I wanted to cook this recipe long time ago but I had never found the right moment to do that. At last, I've done it while Carlos was painting the-other-room's wall (I continue with decoration changes and I will show you the result).

INGREDIENTES INGREDIENTS
(para 30 galletas)(for 30 cookies)
Tiempo empleado: 45 min (aprox)Time needed: 45 min (aprox)
 - 3 tazas de harina - 3 cups all purpose flour
 - 1 taza de mantequilla - 1 cup butter
 - 1 taza de azucar moreno - 1 cup brown sugar
 - 1/2 taza de azucar blanco - 1/2 cup white sugar
 - 1 cucharadita de levadura en polvo - 1 teaspoon powder
 - 1/2 cucharadita de sal - 1/2 teaspoon salt
 - 2 huevos - 2 eggs

STEP 1: In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs and salt.

{Mezcla - Mixture}

STEP 2: Combine flour and powder and stir into the butter mixture until well blended (at first using a palette and then with your own hands). Add the chocolate chips.
{Mezclando la harina - Combining the flour}
{Mezclando más harina - Combining more flour}
{Amasando - Mixing}

STEP 3: Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake the cookies for 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring them to racks to cool completely.

Cinco fotos - Five photos

It has been quite difficult to choose five photos to show this week. Although I have tried to take some acceptable photos during this days, I have had toooooooo many things to do this weekend. The result: a photographic disaster.
Last monday, I took the first and the second photos in San Vicente de la Barquera while I was going to work. A good way of starting the week, isn't it? This place is wonderful but it was cloudy and I had not much time. I will try again!
I had tried to apply what I have been reading about photography composition rules, but there are many things to consider. In the third photo I have been working with depht and in the fourth one, with the rule of thirds. In the fifth photo you can meet Kiti, my family dog.

Regalos inesperados - Unexpected presents

I love unexpected presents. They have added value for me, because they mean that somebody who appreciate you has thought in you and has bought something specially for you. Isn't it fantastic?
Some workmates went on holiday two weeks ago. Two of them went abroad and they had the detail of thinking in me (who was working hard in the office) while they were enjoying their holidays. They brought me back souvenirs from their trips: a bookmark from Morocco and chopsticks and a little mirror from China. Although I haven't used the chopsticks yet, the bookmark is into my book and the mirror is in my bag since the first day. Aren't they wonderful?

Cinco fotos - Five photos

I have started to love photography. Up to now Carlos has always been the "official photographer" at home and I didn't understand how he was able to be so much time on the other side of the lens. Now I'm starting to understand it: photography hooks.
I shot in the automatic mode since the beginning and, little by little, my photos are a bit better. It's rewarding to see my improvement!!!!
I know myself very well and I'm the kind of person who start everything but never finish it. For this reason, I have set up myself a challenge: 5 photos per week. I mean to take five "normal" photos, not five "works of art" which is a challenge that I will be able to achieve (I hope so). Now that I'm writting here this idea I have found another incentive.
By the moment, this are my five photos of the weekend:

I continue dealing with my new obsession: decoration/reorganization. At home, "the-other-room" needs a bit of order. Since we are bloggers-photographers we spend much more time in this room than anywhere else in the house (it is not as bigger as a castle, it is true too). Reorganization has started buying an Ikea EXPEDIT bookcase. It has the perfect size for the room and it's cheap, what more could we ask for? We have bought two doors to insert on the bottom shelf. I think that they are very useful, specially when the floor is a bit dusty at the end of the week (yes, I confess that I'm not the perfect housewife).

{Estantería Expedit -  Expedit bookcase}

The other day I spoke here about my beloved Eames Eiffel Tower DAW, the perfect chair for "the-other-room". We have searched-and-searched on the Internet and we have finally bought them. Yes, I'm veeeeeryyyyyyy happy!!! The quality of the materials used by "The Eames inspired collection" is similar to the quality of the original design. We have chosen this English shop for this reason. I will have to wait one week to have my new chairs.at home ...

¡y quedaron preciosos!

This is the first post about the weddig and, for this reason I have thought that it should be about something very special. One of the most special things we prepared for the wedding were the cake toppers ... although there were more things ...
From the beginning, we tried to make things that turned our wedding in something special for everybody, with special details to remember. I have always loved to make handycrafts and I had larnt how to make wired dolls, so I soon started to make our own wedding cake toppers... and the result was very nice!
{Muñecos de la tarta de la boda - Wedding cake toppers}

Although I needed to make three different versions of the bride, I enjoyed the process a lot. I used tull and felt for the dress, the bouquet and the veil; marabu feathers for the headdress; Swarovsky glass for the waist; wool and thread for the body and the hair ... and ready! I knew that my bouquet was going to be pink, so I make one for the doll too.
Carlos had told me that he wanted that the groom  wore a blazer, and this was the most difficult part of everything. I needed the hole afternoon to make the mini-blazer!!!!

{Colocando bien los muñecos - Arranging the cake toppers}

There is a detail that I love: althought the groom and the bride are separate items, they are made to hold their hands. They should be in love too!

{Partiendo la tarta - Cutting the cake}

The photographer hasn't gave the photos yet so, by the moment, we only have the photos our guests took. I hope that you have liked our wedding cake toppers and, if you want a couple for your wedding, you can send me an email and I'll make them for you.

Buenos días - Good morning

Today it's Saturday and it's quite early in the morning (9:15 in this moment). I have been got up for a couple of hours yet, I have had breakfast and I have seated on the sofa with my laptop. This is my perfect plan for Saturday mornings. It doesn't mind that I love getting up early, but there is a moment when I can't sleep more tieme and I need to go out of the bed for two reasons: one reason is that I don't  want to wake Carlos up and the other one is that soon I start being hungry. Why do I love having breakfast so much?
This is the way  I discovered the world of blogs, searching on the internet ideas for our wedding. Something that turned our wedding into "our-wedding" and not into "another-wedding-else".
Today I have discovered casually a blog which has shocked me. In fact, I'm still crying a bit (due to two videos I have seen there and all the emotions they transmit). The blog is called "Muymolon", a blog written by Angi and Javi, a couple who I'm a bit jealous of (in the good way) because of all the happiness they transmit and because their way of life. This couple left their job and set up their own project, and now they work together and doing what they really love. It's something that everybody would like to do but only a few really make it come true.
Shortly (at 10 or 10:30 more or less) Carlos will appear just woken up, with his hair all disheveled looking for his slippers (which I have stolen) and he will say "how are you?" or "what are you doing?" because I have came to the conclussion that the word "hello" doesn't exist in his vocabulary. He will come to give me my morning-kiss and the day will begin again. Becase there are two days during the same day: the time I'm with you and the rest of the time. I love you, and I dont get tired of telling you that. Good morning, my love!!!!!!!

Eames DAW Effel Tower chair

I have decided that it's time for us to make some changes in our house's decoration, so I have been looking for nice chairs for the dinning-room. Although I haven't found them, I have found  the perfect chair for our work-place. It is the Eames Eiffel Tower chair and I'm in love with her. It seems that it always happens the same: when you are looking for something, you can't find it and when you aren't looking for it, it appears.

Calcetines - Socks

I love beeing barefoot, I confess it, and I think that this is the main reason why I love sandals. Tis year, the weather has given us enough hot days to show our feet from June to the middle of September.
Little by little sandals have been replaced by shoes and now it's time to take out boots of their "hidding-place" and to "rescue" the socks-box from the top of the closet. Socks are part of the winter, I know, but it doesn't mean that I like them.

It seems that fall has definitely started. I think that it is the first time in my life that I really want that cold and rainy days arrive. Perhaps it happens to me because in Santander we are used to bad weather during fall/winter but I'm sure that, if it doesn't rain, the city doesn't seem the same.
I have decided to welcome fall at home too. The brightness of my green duvet cover has been replaced by the calm that the white one transmits.
I don't really know if it is possible to see that in the photos but the room doesn't seem the same.

Mi primer post - My first post

¿empezamos?

Up until one year ago more or less, I had never heard anything about blogs. Carlos and I decided to get married in September 2010 and doubts came up soon: what to do the first? how to do this? where to find that? We had no idea how to organize a wedding so I started to search ideas on the Internet and this way is how I discovered the marvelous world of blogs.
During the months before the wedding, every weekend there was something to do: the church, the restaurant, the photographer, the invitations, the presents for the guests, the flowers, the dress, the shoes, the make-up, the hairstyle, the unity coins, the honeymoon, ... so we had something to do every day of the week. Now everyting has finished and, fortunately, everything in the wedding was perfect but the work of preparations has left an "empty space"in my weekends.
Now the "problem" is not that I don't have anything to do but just the opposite: I have got a half-furnished house, a new camera and a box full of  felt and thread so I don't really know what to do the first. As if it were not enough, I have decided to begin a blog to speak about this matters and much more else ... let start!
